As September comes to an end, it is time to start getting spooky by visiting some of the many haunted and Halloween attractions the city of Pittsburgh has to offer. Whether you enjoy carving pumpkins or being scared silly, there is a multitude of attractions all over the city.
What would Halloween be without visiting a haunted house? Nothing says Halloween like the feeling of being so scared you pretty much accept death. Luckily for all you Pittsburgh folk, there is an abundance of haunted attractions to get the heart pounding. I asked a few people what their favorite attractions around the city were. Most people said ScareHouse. ScareHouse is nationally known as one of the scariest attractions on the east coast. According to ABC News it is “one of the scariest haunted houses in America”. ScareHouse has multiple attractions. From zombies, 3-D clowns, and gore to R-rated scares in their ScareHouse Basement. ScareHouse is open from September 14th to November 3rd. Ticket prices may vary depending on attraction chosen.
Hundred Acre Manor, Kennywood’s Phantom Fright Night, and Fright Farm are other haunted attractions that you should make your way to this Halloween season. Just outside of Cranberry Township, you can find an exciting new attraction Zombies! of the Corn. This attraction is full of scare and fun. If you enjoy paintball and horror, then this is the place for you. Enjoy hunting Zombies and shooting them down on the “Zombie Fighting Vehicle” that takes you around the compound. This attraction also offers ghost stories around the campfire, food and more. Zombies! Of the Corn will be around until October 28th.
Not into being scared? Not to fear (literally), there are other activities around the city that don’t require heavy breathing. Take a ghost tour at the infamous Nemacolin Castle, or visit Harvest Valley Farms to pick the most perfect pumpkin to carve. Or, if you love animals and the spirit of Halloween, you won’t want to miss ZooBoo coming to the Pittsburgh Zoo and PPG Aquarium on October 19th- 20th and October 26th- 27th. Trick-or-Treat around the zoo and grab some treats, along with supporting local businesses. It is a family friendly event that will be fun for the whole family.
Looking for a night away from the kids or to just let loose? The Gateway Clipper will be hosting its annual Boo’n Brew Dance Cruise on October 27th. Enjoy booze, music and lots of dancing. This themed cruise is the perfect way to celebrate your Halloween weekend.
